GESTURE AI & ACCESSIBLE SOFTWARE

Myo Sign-Language Interpretation Software

A wearable-signal interpretation system that maps a defined vocabulary of Myo gestures into digital commands and labels for accessible human–computer interaction.

Myo Sign-Language Interpretation Software

The challenge

Organizations exploring accessible human–computer interaction often need to connect wearable sensor data with interpretation logic and present the result in a usable digital form. The challenge is not only capturing movement signals but also recognizing gestures reliably enough to support a defined vocabulary. For assistive scenarios, the output must be understandable to users and extensible to different applications. This platform investigates that end-to-end path within the Intelligent Interfaces & Connected Software portfolio.

How it works

The software combines sensor acquisition, signal interpretation and interaction output. It reads movement signals from a compatible Myo wearable, classifies patterns against a defined gesture vocabulary, and publishes recognized labels or commands to accessible software interfaces.

Signal acquisition

The application processes movement signals from a third-party Myo wearable. This stage is about capturing the raw sensor measurements that feed the recognition process.

Pattern recognition

Recognition operates on a configured gesture vocabulary. This means the system is designed to identify a selected set of sign-language gestures rather than an open-ended or complete sign language.

Digital presentation

Recognized patterns are converted into digital labels or translation output. The goal is to make gesture interpretation understandable in accessible interaction scenarios.

Core capabilities

  • Acquisition and interpretation of wearable gesture signals: Processes movement data from a third-party Myo wearable.
  • Pattern recognition for a configured gesture vocabulary: Identifies a defined set of sign-language gestures.
  • Digital translation or label presentation: Converts recognized patterns into digital output.
  • Extensible interfaces for assistive applications: Designed as a foundation that other applications may extend.

Integrations

The system integrates with compatible Myo wearable input and exposes interpreted gesture events for connection to assistive interaction applications. Its supported gesture set is explicitly defined to avoid implying unrestricted natural-language sign translation.

Business value

The software connects gesture sensing to controlled digital responses, supporting alternative input and accessibility-oriented applications while keeping the supported gesture vocabulary explicit.
