The solution
Business Model Canvas Education Game is an interactive digital learning application designed to teach how businesses are designed and evaluated using the Business Model Canvas. The experience moves beyond static lessons by guiding participants through activities and decisions about customers, value propositions, channels, partners, resources, and costs. Conversational elements can support explanation and feedback within the learning flow where enabled.
The challenge
Education and digital learning organizations increasingly need to make foundational business concepts accessible to learners who may have limited exposure to entrepreneurship, strategy, or business design. The Business Model Canvas is a widely used framework for describing, analyzing, and designing business models. Teaching it effectively, however, requires more than definitions. Learners need opportunities to apply the canvas to realistic choices and see how decisions about one component affect others.
The project addresses that need through an interactive educational game. The intent is to help learners connect abstract canvas components to practical business decisions in a structured, engaging way.
Platform architecture
The application combines structured learning scenarios, Business Model Canvas activities, guided decisions and progress feedback. Each activity links strategic choices to business-model components, helping learners move from theory to practical analysis.
Platform capabilities
- Guided exploration of Business Model Canvas components: structured activities that help learners work through components such as customers, value propositions, channels, partners, resources, and costs.
- Interactive scenarios, tasks, and progress feedback: learning interactions that present business situations, ask learners to make choices, and provide feedback as they advance.
- Business decision exercises and educational content: exercises that connect canvas components to practical decisions about how a business is designed and evaluated.
- Conversational learning support where enabled: optional conversational elements that can explain concepts and respond to learner input within the learning flow.
How it works
- Start with a business scenario: the learner enters a scenario or task that presents a business situation and a set of decisions to make.
- Explore canvas components: the learner works through relevant parts of the Business Model Canvas, such as customers, value propositions, channels, partners, resources, and costs.
- Make business decisions: the learner chooses how to position the business, which customer needs to serve, how to reach them, and what resources and partnerships are required.
- Receive feedback: the game provides progress feedback and, where enabled, conversational explanation that helps the learner understand the consequences of choices.
- Advance and reflect: the learner moves through additional tasks or scenarios, building a more complete view of how the canvas components interact.
Integrations and configuration
The application organizes interactive learning content around the Business Model Canvas, supporting guided exercises, participant input and structured feedback within a web-based education experience.
Business value
The application turns business-model thinking into guided participation. Learners can explore how the nine building blocks interact and apply entrepreneurial concepts through structured activities instead of passive reading.
